CRG Positioned as a T1XX Rubber Supplier

General Motors’ (GM) T1XX vehicle program continues apace, with GM expected to launch the first vehicles off the T1XX platform, a redesigned Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, in the second half of 2018. As the program continues to unfold, Canada Rubber Group (CRG) looks forward to further collaborations with GM as a T1XX rubber supplier.

T1XX is GM’s assembly code for a vehicle platform architecture for its line of full-size trucks and large SUVs. The "XX" is a place holder for the last two digits of the specific assembly code for each model. Vehicles produced under the T1XX program are expected to make some use of aluminum body panels as a weight-saving measure. Production of initial pickup truck models under the T1XX program will be followed by GM's full-size sport-utility vehicles about a year later.

The T1XX program is part of a continuing trend within the automotive industry where vehicle OEM`s are shortening design times to achieve faster product cycles. GM’s truck platform was last made over in 2013, meaning that with the T1XX program only five years will pass between model generations.

“Compressed product development cycles are the new reality in the automotive industry,” notes Paul Carey, CRG’s Automotive Account Manager. “As an agile producer, CRG is well-positioned to serve OEM’s like GM who are using accelerated product development cycles. Our capabilities in global sourcing, materials, and quality assurance are strengths we can fully leverage to be a T1XX rubber supplier and provision rubber components and parts to the program.”

Leveraging CRG’s Capabilities for the T1XX Program

CRG is a leading supplier to automotive OEM’s and their supply chains for high performance automotive rubber parts. Rubber components and parts that CRG can supply to the T1XX program include the following:

  • Seals and stripping for a range of applications, including: body; driveline; engine; steering and suspension; wheel-end; bearing; and doors, windows, hoods and trunks.

  • Ducts, boots and cuffs. These parts are fabricated from materials that specifically chosen for their resistance to abrasion, solvents, and oils.

  • Pedal Pads. We can supply pedal pads in a variety of sizes and configurations, made from high-wear, slip-resistant materials.

  • Isolators and Dampeners. Isolators and acoustic dampeners manufactured from rubber, felt, cork, or other materials.

  • Anti-Vibration Pads. Our anti-vibration pads resist compression set, aging, and fluids. Pads can be kiss cut and supplied on rolls for ease of installation.

  • Drain valve assemblies. Precision fabricated drain valves provide a high-quality seal and maximum water drainage throughout their life cycle.

  • Rubber grommets of various designs, sizes and shapes to provide protection for vehicle wiring and cabling as well as mounting brackets.

  • Fuel tank cushions. Rubber extrusion strips or die cut pads to prevent unnecessary wear and noise.

  • Trim items, including extruded door and trunk seals.

“CRG is a trusted T1XX rubber supplier,” notes Carey. “We are already supplying parts to the T1XX Light Duty (LD) and Heavy Duty (HD) programs. CRG values our partnership with GM and its suppliers to continuously add value to the T1XX platform and programs.
