Fabricated Plastic Components

The advent of CNC cutting and milling technology allows for the ready conversion of plastic sheet into fully finished parts and components. Fabricated plastic components produced with CNC cutting and milling have a multitude of uses in a variety of applications. These applications include replacement parts for Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul/Operations (MRO), components for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), and prototyping for product developers.

The term “CNC” refers to the cutting and shaping of material with a computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine. The CNC machining process interprets CAD drawings and translates the data to the production machine. With CNC technology, plastic sheet material can be readily cut, shaped, drilled, contoured, surfaced, etc. with the use of precision tooling under computer control. CNC machining is the preferred choice where the rapid prototyping and production of high-quality plastic components with a high degree of dimensional accuracy, critical surface finishes, and material-specific properties is desired.

Compared to molding, producing fabricated plastic components with CNC machining technology offers many advantages. First, no expensive molds are required when plastic parts are machined. Secondly, part designs can be altered quickly and easily. And, thirdly, complex part geometries, including those with threads and undercuts, can be easily produced.

With our in-house CNC machining technology, CRG can create a wide variety of fabricated plastic components from sheet material ranging from .001” thick and greater to widths and lengths up to 126”. Our close-tolerance cutting to within ±.005” ensures your specs will be achieved with minimal waste of material. Our fabricated plastic components and parts are always clean and dust-free, with smooth, chip-free edges.

Materials from which CRG can produce custom machined plastic components include the following:

  • Phenolics

  • UHMW

  • HDPE

  • Acrylic

  • Urethane Shore D

…and more.

CRG can provide information and guidance for material selection and costs for all your plastic fabrication needs. Parts and applications we specialize in supporting include:
