Featured Mat of the Month: Special Application Matting

Rubber matting for special applications can greatly improve safety and productivity

Installing rubber matting in workstations and workareas is a great way to improve workplace safety and productivity. Rubber mats can provide greater operator ease and comfort while at the same time reducing or eliminating safety hazards that can lead to slips and falls. A variety of special application matting is now available to address problems typically encountered with floor surfaces in many types of workareas.

Canada Rubber Group Inc. (CRGI) specializes in the supply of special application matting. Our matting is available in a variety of sizes, roll lengths, or cut-to-size. Matting styles we carry service most special applications, and are described below.

Non-slip matting is designed to address applications where fluids and debris accumulates on floor surfaces. These types of issues are often found in industrial applications involving production environments, as well as applications in food service and processing. Non-slip matting is especially designed to allow fluids and debris to fall through the matting, providing workers with a dry, anti-slip surface. These mats can significantly reduce worker slips and falls resulting from slippery floor surfaces, decreasing injury time-off and worker compensation claims. Non-slip matting that CRGI can supply includes the Heronair, HerongripA, and Vynagrip styles.

Anti-fatigue matting services applications where worker comfort and fatigue is an issue. Good quality anti-fatigue matting alleviates the worker discomfort resulting from standing while providing a stable standing environment. Styles of anti-fatigue matting that CRGI can supply includes the At-Ease, Workstation, Utopia, and Comfort King styles. We also carry Sparksafe anti-fatigue matting which features a special heat resistant composition designed to repel sparks and hot metal fragments in industrial workplaces, welding stations and assembly areas, machine shops and wherever heat generating equipment is in use.

Anti-static matting is designed to dissipate static charges which can damage electronic components and equipment. The anti-static property of these mats also prevents the incidence of sparks which could trigger combustion or explosions. Styles of anti-static matting that CRGI supplies includes the Airsoft™, Anti Stat, Stat-Zap, and Comfort King styles.

High-voltage matting addresses applications where workers in high-voltage areas must be insulated and protected from electrical shocks. This matting is typically used as a floor covering to prevent shock around high voltage electrical apparatuses, fuse boxes, switchgear, control panels and heavy machinery.  CRGI supplies the Switchboard style of high-voltage matting. This style is available in 3 standard sizes and custom cuts are also available.
