Teadit Style 2235: Compression Packing for Steam Applications

We are pleased to announce that we are now carrying Teadit style 2235 compression packing for steam applications. This new packing is designed to service demanding applications in industrial settings where high pressures and temperatures prevail.

Style 2235 packing is composed of layers of flexible graphite tape plied into compact strands. Each individual filament is reinforced with an Inconel® wire jacket. This yarn is then square braided to form a dense yet malleable packing, which is subsequently treated with a minimal amount of lubricating agents to reduce stem friction, and a corrosion inhibitor to prevent pitting.

Designed as a compression packing for steam applications, style 2235 packing is self-lubricating, non-hardening, dimensionally stable and easy to install. The Inconel® wire mesh covering makes this packing highly resistant to extrusion, while the advanced construction assures superior leakage control and the highest integrity in steam service.

Due to its physical properties and ability to minimize friction, style 2235 packing is ideal for valves, including control and block valves, and a broad range of applications. It is well-suited for applications in power plants, refineries, chemical, and other process industries, as well as general sealing applications in steam at high pressures and temperatures.

Style 2235 packing can be used with most chemicals and gases. It is not suitable for use with highly oxidizing agents at high temperature. Key benefits of this packing include the following:

  • High mechanical and thermal stability;

  • Chemically inert over pH range 0 - 14;

  • Quick and easy to install;

  • Suitable for rotary and rising-stem valves; low friction, special lubricating systems; corrosion inhibitors;

  • Fully meets API Standard 589 (second edition) for fire resistance when applied to valves subjected to direct flame;

  • Successfully completed EPA Method 21 test requirements for fugitive emissions in valves.

Service limits for style 2235 packing are shown in the chart below:
