With the first models from General Motors’ (GM) T1XX platform program expected to come to market in 2018, Canada Rubber Group Inc. (CRGI) is now working with the supply chain to service the new program with T1XX automotive rubber components and parts.
GM is using the T1XX program to redesign the next model versions of its SUV`s and pickup trucks. These next generation pickup truck models are expected to begin launching in the fall of 2018, with the SUV`s following on about a year later.
Increasingly, as automakers are each trying to be the first to market with new technologies and fresh products, vehicle launches now require a faster cycle from design to full production. The T1XX program is part of a continuing trend within the automotive industry where vehicle OEM`s are shortening design times to achieve faster product cycles. GM's truck platform was last made over in 2013, meaning that with the T1XX program only five years will pass between model generations.
“With the compressed product development cycles, CRGI is ideally positioned to service OEM’s and their suppliers with high quality automotive rubber components and parts,” said Paul Carey, CRGI’s automotive sales manager. “Our strength is in global sourcing, materials, and quality assurance - strengths we can fully leverage to supply T1XX automotive rubber components and parts.”
